My eldest daughter, Anna, was unexpectedly diagnosed with scoliosis (curved spine) in May 2010, aged 14 years.At that time I had never heard of this condition and I sought information to help me understand the impact this would have on Anna’s life. I wanted to find out what could happen to her in terms of tests, possible surgical intervention, and the process of recovery.I wrote this book to help all those parents who are still reeling from the shock of their child receiving a diagnosis of scoliosis. The book charts Anna’s experiences, and her progress over a two-year period from diagnosis to her follow-up appointment in May 2012, one year after surgery.About the author:Hilary Lowne grew up in Ockbrook, Derbyshire. After qualifying as a speech and language therapist in Leeds she moved to Leicester where she worked in various clinics before training as a teacher.
